Drawing & Painting for Beginners

Have you always wanted to learn how to draw and paint but didn't know where to start?

This beginner-friendly course will introduce you to the fundamental skills of drawing and painting in a relaxed and supportive environment. Through practical, step-by-step activities, you will learn how to draw basic shapes, mix colours, create shading effects, sketch landscapes and people, and explore simple perspective techniques.

Using a variety of art materials including pencil, charcoal, pastel, ink and paint, you will develop confidence in observing and representing the world around you. By the end of the course, you will have completed several artworks and gained the skills to continue your creative journey.

Suitable for adults of all skill levels, especially beginners.

Topics include:

  • Drawing lines, shapes and forms

  • Shading and colour mixing techniques

  • Still life drawing and painting

  • Drawing trees and natural landscapes

  • Seascapes with charcoal and pastel

  • Sketching people simply

  • Introduction to one-point perspective
