Chief Executive Officer

Jeff Percy

Jeff initially trained as a Catholic Primary School teacher teaching a variety of grades and also spent six years as Primary School Principal at Holy Name East Preston. 

From there he moved into the world of business for number of years including managing a department at AXA Australia. Jeff eventually found his way back into education but this time in the Vocational and Education Training (VET) sector where he spent many years and finally finished at Swinburne University of Technology after 15 years.

Jeff is passionate and enthusiastic about learning development and facilitating the learning of others and considers the role at OAE would allow him to draw extensively on a range of knowledge, skills and experience developed whilst working in the VET sector, where a variety of roles have been focused on the development of learning skills programs, services and resources to staff, clients and students.

Chairperson

Keith Barry

Keith has over 25 years of experience in senior corporate finance and treasury positions for global diversified mining and mineral processing corporations; Rio Tinto, Anglo American and Gold Fields of South Africa. Keith has also been a director on the board of a number of Rio Tinto Group finance and insurance companies from 2000 to 2016.

Treasurer

Ken Grist

Ken has been the Treasurer of OAE since the beginning of 2006.

Ken is a qualified accountant, a CPA and member of the Institute of Company Secretaries.  Ken’s work experience includes 40 years in Financial and Company Secretarial roles with ASX listed medium to large manufacturing companies.  

Ken officially retired in 2000, but during his first seven years of retirement, worked as a consultant.

  • Associate Diploma of Industrial Accounting, R.M.I.T in 1966.

  • Qualified A.A.S.A. (Senior), 1966.

Secretary/Public Officer

Judy Stafford

Judy joined the OAE COM in September 2017.

Judy has taught in secondary schools in the northern suburbs since 1976.  As a Leading Teacher, Judy has demonstrated leadership and collaborative skills in curriculum development, student management and welfare as well as workforce and strategic planning.

At present Judy volunteers at OAE and facilitates a Homework Club in the Epping Area.

Br Harry Prout 

A former Chairperson of OAE, Harry Prout is a member of the Catholic religious order of Marist Brothers and has been a teacher, retreat centre director and retreat facilitator. 

Since 2000 Harry has lived in the Olympic Village in West Heidelberg as a member of the Exodus Community focussed on work with / for families and children. Exodus values and promotes inclusion, collaboration and encouragement of people to take responsibility and leadership in their community.

Harry began involvement with OAE when he ran school homework classes from the old OAE building and became a COM member in 2002. He regards OAE as a significant organisation assisting the community in West Heidelberg.

Ross Failla

Ross is the most recent member of the committee of management, having joined in 2014.

Ross has practiced law in Ivanhoe since 1975.  Ross runs a general law practice where the main areas of work are commercial law including conveyancing and business law, family law, probate and general litigation.

Keith Oldmeadow

Keith, a past Chairman and currently Acting Chairperson of OAE, joined the Committee of Management in 2005.

Keith is a member of the Rotary Club of Ivanhoe and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

At present, Keith is the Officer in Effective Control of Miles Real Estate and believes in putting back into the community.

  • Real Estate Sub Agent – Miles Real Estate, commenced approx. 1974

  • Licenced Real Estate Agent – Miles Real Estate, from approx. 1983

Catherine Phan

Catherine works in low socio-economic neighbourhoods, community health and primary care based

services in mental health, psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery, drug and alcohol, therapy and

leadership for 20 years.

She started her own company Get Your Future Together 3.5 years ago, working with people who have

disabilities, as well as in the area of career development supporting people who may be struggling with

burnout, or aren’t able to find themselves in work that is meaningful. As work and life is accelerated,

finding ways for people who are marginalised to find work is an area of passion and importance in

addressing health, equity and connected communities.
