English as an Additional Language (EAL)

Interviews can take between 1 and 2 hours. Please do not bring children. Course costs aredetermined by the enrolled units/modules nominal Student Contact Hours (SCH), plus the Amenities Fee ($30 per year, $20 persemester or $10 per term). If you want to increase your confidence in speaking, listening, reading and/or writing in English, OAEcan offer various courses at different levels to improve your skills in all aspects of English. Students are required to attend allscheduled classes 

Course in Initial EAL – 22482VIC

These classes are designed for learners who are beginning to develop initial speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in English.

Initial A:           Monday and Tuesday – 9:30am – 3:00pm

Initial B:            Wednesday and Thursday – 9:30am – 3:00pm

Course in EAL - 22483VIC 

These classes are for learners with basic English language skills who want to improve their speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Course A: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday – 9:30am – 3:00pm

Course B: Monday, Thursday, Friday (To be confirmed) – 9:30am – 3:00pm

Certificate I in EAL (Access) – 22484VIC 

These classes are for pre-intermediate learners who want to develop their basic listening, speaking, reading and writing skills

EAL 1A:      Wednesday, Thursday and Friday – 9:30am – 3:00pm

EAL 1B:      Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday – 9:30am – 3:00pm

Certificate II in EAL (Access) – 22485VIC

These intermediate classes are for learners who want to consolidate & further develop their listening, speaking, reading & writing skills.

EAL II:        Wednesday, Thursday and Friday – 9:30am – 3:00pm

EAL Spelling (ACFE Funded)

Build your confidence by learning the patterns of word construction in English and practicing them in context.

Pronunciation & Conversation 

Improve your pronunciation and build your confidence in conversational skills for everyday and work situations.

Pronunciation & Conversation (Men)

Specifically designed for Somali men, this course helps to improve your pronunciation, build your confidence in conversational skills for everyday, and work situations.

EAL for Mature Learners

This course is for people who have been speaking English for many years but would like to develop skills in English reading, writing and vocabulary.

EAL for Mature Learners:         Monday - 12:30pm - 3:00pm

 Working and Living in Australia

A course for people who want to learn about the culture and systems in Australia in order to better understand their new country. This course is quite flexible and aims to respond to the particular needs of the participants.

Wednesdays 1:00pm - 3:00pm and other times as arranged                                                 No cost
